Open Cloud founded JAINSLEE.org to promote the wide spread adoption of a standards based service logic execution environment in the core telecommunications network. Open Cloud is the co-specification edit lead with Sun Microsystems on the JAIN SLEE specification and is responsible for producing the Reference Implementation (RI) and Technology Compatibility Kit (TCK).

Open Cloud was formed in 2000 to deliver to the market a fault tolerant, high performing and standard application server for the telcommunications network. Open Cloud is now delivering the first JAIN SLEE 1.0 compliant platform for the development and delivery of OSA/Parlay, SS7, SIP, JCC, SMPP and MM7 based voice and messaging services as well as a single point of integration for OSS/BSS for Tier 1 carriers. Open Cloud is working with carriers, equipment providers, systems integrators and independent software vendors to realize the value the Open Cloud platform brings to the telecommunications industry.

The work of MediaLab centres on consolidating and managing robust working arrangements between our industry and research partners to create enterprises of innovation in ICT.

MediaLab is currently creating research and development solutions across the New Zealand health, rural, telecommunications, education and design sectors. The collaboration built between our providers, partners and the Sectors we work in underpin the capability of the ICT sector and its contribution to the New Zealand economy. MediaLab calls this activity, 'research-led economic development'.
